Better Design Means Better Websites

It's all about design! This not only applies to  websites, but to other things in life as well. Imagine you're buying a house or car. If everything is equal between two items, you will ultimately choose the item with the best and most appealing design.

When comparing websites, suppose you come across the following: Website A has a great design and beautiful pictures and graphics. It has well matched color schemes,  themes and pictures. The graphics resolution is optimized and it has good legible fonts and font sizes.

Now you come to website B: It is designed with horrible graphics and pictures with bad resolution, quality and no relevancy with the site's theme. It has pink graphics with a bright green background, and the fonts used are not legible. They are too small, artsy and difficult to read.

What would your impression be of website A? You would probably enjoy your visit to the site and want to return if the topic or theme of the site were one that interested you. 

Conversely, for website B, you would most likely not stay around long enough to find out what the site was about. If you did manage to get the site's theme, you would probably never return even if the theme or topic was one that you were interested in due to the site's illegible fonts and poor graphics/color scheme.

Conclusion: You want visitors to be attracted to your website. A properly planned and designed website will have that effect on your visitors. Plan your website and it's design. Implement it and then ensure that your site is properly designed by getting feedback from friends, relatives and/or customers before releasing your site to the public. Ask them if they think anything could improve their experience. Use their impressions and ideas to tweak your website and you can be confident that you have a properly designed website that will attract visitors for years to come.
